A musical week gone by
Things happen seemingly in a flash this week. Skating lesson is on tomorrow! So fast?
Invigilation had just ended a few days ago, and I have only part of the pay so far. Don't they dare forget to pay me! Anyway my supervisor and colleagues were fun people to be working with and I am really grateful for that.
Had karaoke on Wednesday. Good entertainment again, but that is another $20 gone from the wallet. Money matters had to be scrutinised these days, since I would not be having a stable income now. If money were not a concern, well, I would have got myself some of the World Cup jerseys that I liked, such as the white adidas Japanese away jersey, red adidas Germany away jersey, and the white umbro England home jersey. Or, better still, get myself a car! Dream on... So much for materialistic wants. I need a portable FM radio too, having passed it to someone else, and my phone does not have that function. Realistically I will have to wait at least one more month, to qualify for the Singtel "21 month" mark, and most probably get myself a $0 phone.
Speaking of July, that will be when I matriculate. School is starting real soon. I am slowly, but surely, feeling the early jitters, or perhaps excitement, of returning to school again. During my time in the Army, I fully realised that comparatively, school is still a better place to be at, despite all the workload that I would be getting at school. This realisation must be remembered, to serve as motivation for myself, when the going gets tough in school.
July is also the month whereby I will be reporting at my new reservist unit. Hope it is a friendly environment there. Of course there's the Coldplay concert!
Just attended a great concert too! On Thursday, I went for the Jamie Cullum concert too! Read in Life! that the organisers were giving away the last 100 tickets for the concert at half price! Immediately I got working at it, enquiring about the ticket prices and so on. Considering that I was an avid fan of Jamie's music ( I listened to his songs once on TV and that had left a good impression), the decision was made to go for the cheapest tickets. That cost me $30. However, it was certainly great value for money. Jamie's performance was charismatic, even hilarious at times. The mood was relaxing at times, yet no lacking in intensity as Jamie urged the crowd into a frenzy. I must say the crowd was passionate, screaming and laughing wit approval at his antics, and gamely dancing along as Jamie worked his way into everyone's hearts. I enjoyed the concert.
In a fortunate twist of fate, I encountered the song I liked again. The first time I heard it on Yes933, I recognise neither the song title nor the artiste. On TV, we met again. So it is Nan Quan Ma Ma, performing "Mu Dan Jiang" (Peony River). Online sources reveal that it was nominated as one of the best songs in 2006. Deservedly so, in my opinion.
Music has once again touched my soul this week. I appreciate it =)
