Wanting to Lead a Meaningful Life

Was I wrong to join?
A)Yes. You never know till you join. You can always switch. What is stopping you?
B)No. You made many acquaintances. Problems? What kind of problems did I encounter? What caused the problems?

Seriously I believe I need something else. A new chance to try things out; it might be another failure but there is a probable upside to every potential downside too.

"Live your life to the fullest and the rest should follow." Someone said that, but if I were to maximise my time in life, even if things do not follow, at least I did most of what I could, within this time.

"It's never too late to realise your mistake." I certainly hope so. Floating around aimlessly, I await a new opening. Or perhaps I should start looking for one. Uncertainty spells risk, but take calculated risks I must, for I would be staying where I am now, forever.

Some say be happy with what you have at present - be satisfied; do not be greedy in asking for more in life. On the other hand, I believe there is still much that I can contribute, to society, my family; there is still much I could learn and achieve. Thirst for knowledge, ability, and recognition? Perhaps I should not overemphasize the "recognition" part - more of putting my time to maximum effect, be it the impact on people's life or the amount of knowledge I could acquire. This insatiable need for knowledge defines part of my success. A need for success would drive me, motivate me.

What are my interests? Satisfying those interests will probably define if I am leading a fulfilling life.

So perhaps what I should do is:
I) Find means to develop, express, and fulfill my interests.
II) Re-allocate time appropriately to ensure I lead a meaningful life.

Blurt has been carrying articles about mugging in school and prodding readers to think about what they want to achieve in life. The phrase "Meaningful Life" is probably the key term in all these discussion.

It is probably Man's nature to want to work. I attribute this to the basic need of one to feel useful and relevant in life. But fulfilling one's interests goes one step further. It gives meaning and value to one's very existence and ultimately leads to a higher sense of self-fulfillment. The best arrangement would be if work and interest dove-tail together. However I understand that most of the time this does not happen. So generally I must undertake other activities beyond work that would add value to my life. Work without interests provides the means to survive financially in society; meaningful activities represents a higher attainment of happiness.

What I should do:
i) Have a strong foundation. Ensure that I fulfill the academic requirements necessary to prepare for my future career. I need to score well for my exams. I need to gain industry experience.
ii) Undertake activities that satisfy my interests. Live life to the fullest. Learn new skills!
iii) Plan to see if there are any activities that achieve both of the above at the same time. China internship? Local CIP? Internship?
